Steering Column Trim Covers: Installation

1. Connect the closeout shroud to the upper steering column trim cover. Install the upper steering column trim cover to the steering column. See Fig 4 . Install the upper steering column trim cover retaining screw (3). Tighten the upper steering column trim cover retaining screw to 13 INCH lbs. (1.5 N.m). Install the ignition lock cylinder.
2. Install the lower steering column trim cover to the closeout shroud. Install the lower steering column trim cover retaining screws. Tighten the lower steering column trim cover retaining screws to 31 INCH lbs. (3.5 N.m). See Fig 2 . Install the tilt lever. See Fig 1 . Install the lower IP trim panel. See INSTRUMENT PANEL TRIM PANEL (LOWER)  .
3. Install the steering wheel. See appropriate STEERING COLUMNS article in STEERING. Connect the negative battery cable. Enable the SIR system. See AIR BAG DEACTIVATION PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION.
