Rear Emergency Release Cable, Parking Lock, Removing And Installing: Removing

WARNING:

The vehicle could start to roll and cause an accident.

Press the button on the electro-mechanical parking brake to activate it.

-- Remove the driveshaft. Refer to DRIVESHAFT, REMOVING FROM REAR FINAL DRIVE AND INSTALLING [0BC, 0BD, 0BE, 0BF] or DRIVESHAFT, REMOVING FROM REAR FINAL DRIVE AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the left and right front muffler. Refer to EXHAUST PIPES/MUFFLERS or OVERVIEW - MUFFLER .

-- Release the retainers in direction of -arrows A- and slide the sleeve -1- in direction of -arrow B-.

-- Disconnect the rear emergency release cable from the front emergency release cable in direction of -arrow C-.

-- Remove the rear emergency release cable -2- from the bracket -3-.

-- Remove the center tunnel heat shield -1-. Refer to MOLDING/TRIM/EXTENSIONS/TRIM PANELS .

-- Remove the rear emergency release cable -3- from the bracket -2-.

-- Remove the driver seat. Refer to Front Seat, Removing and Installing .

-- Remove the floor mat.

-- Remove the front sill panel on the driver side. Refer to SILL PANEL STRIP, FRONT SILL PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Pry off the cover -1- for the emergency release and remove it in direction of -arrows-.

-- Move the floor covering inside the front driver footwell to the side and remove the cover -1- for the emergency release through the opening in the floor covering.

-- Remove the nuts -1 and 2-.

-- Remove the cable tie -A-.

-- Pull the rubber grommet -4- toward the inside.

-- Guide the rear emergency release cable -3- through the hole in the tunnel toward the inside, opposite the direction of the -arrow-, and remove it.
